How You Can Help

If you would like to help the animal friends on the farm, a great help is to write letters of protest:

To the Bavarian Administrative Court in Würzburg, Germany:

For example:

Property owners are asking to be freed from the hunting obligations imposed by governing authorities because they refuse to kill animals for ethical-religious reasons. During court proceedings it became clear the majority of the judges who sat in on the proceedings were, themselves, hunters. Is it allowed in Germany that judges decide on cases in which they have a personal interest?

To the Administrative Office of Würzburg, Germany:

For example:

The farmers on the Terra Nova Farm – Gut Greussenheim have filed an application to suspend hunting on their lands for 10 years. The Administrative Office claims this is not possible because the result would be an explosive growth in the animal population. International experts deny this as nonsense. Why were experts not called in to testify? Instead, a deaf ear was turned to the concern of the hunting opponents with superficial arguments. Why?

Or, the above can be sent to the Bavarian State Chancelor, Minister of State Eberhard Sinner (also a hunter)

To the German President of the Republic, Horst Köhler:

For example:

By pleading their basic constitutional right of freedom of religion and freedom of conscience, animal friends filed an application to be freed from mandatory hunting because they oppose killing animals as a question of conscience. A court in Würzburg did not take this concern seriously and denied the landowners their right to plead on the basis of conscience.

The majority of judges sitting in on the case were hunters. How can a country governed by rule of law allow a judge to rule on a case in which he has a personal interest?

In addition, the German constitution mentions animal protection in its state goals. Why is this not considered when a court case is ruled in favor of slaughtering animals without first anaesthetizing them out of religious reasons as in Jewish or Moslem rites? And then, to top it off, the right to let animals live out of reasons of religion and conscience is not upheld?
